The lab team
Read moreOur laboratory is engaged in uncovering the discovery of how the environment influences epigenetic mechanisms, and how epigenetics is linked to diseases. Epigenetics is, a highly relevant topic field of study, involves the study of which delves into heritable changes in gene expression that occur without altering the DNA sequence. In our laboratory, we conduct cutting-edgepioneering research on DNA methylation, analyzing how the effects of a wide range of environmental agents such as air pollution, heavy metals, and organic chemicals impacts this epigenetic modification. Additionally, we study plasma extracellular plasma vesicles and their microRNA content s contained in them to understand elucidate their role in regulating the cardiovascular and respiratory effects of air pollution.
We are part of the EPIGET group, an exciting dynamic community of experts specialists that. Together, we shares a bold mission: to combine our expertise in exposure assessment to create a meaningful impact tangible outcomes.
We are a multidisciplinary team that includes experts in toxicology, molecular epidemiology, statistics, and chemistry, ready to challenge the boundaries of knowledge. Our passion for research drives us to explore new horizons and discover how the environment influences our health. We are committed to understanding epigenetic mechanisms and identifying how epigenetics is linked to diseases.
The prestigious Department of Clinical and Community Sciences (DISCCO), a place where a passion for health care meets scientific innovation, was founded in April 2012. DISCCO was created to carry on the legacy of some of Milan’s most renowned health institutions and to innovate their activities. We are a department composed of a team of highly qualified and passionate experts. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of people through excellence in research and the application of innovative knowledge.
Our activities range from Clinical Medicine to Community Sciences, from health promotion to disease prevention, offering a holistic and integrated perspective to address the health challenges of our time. The main research units of DISCCO are active in the field of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Sciences, maternal and child care, surgical specialties, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Medical Statistics and Epidemiology, and other specific medical sciences.
DISCCO has been designed as an integrated and multidisciplinary organization where cooperation between researchers with different backgrounds and expertise (from biological and translational biotechnological sciences to clinical sciences to community medicine and public health) can achieve significant goals in applied health research for the health of individuals and the entire population.
